WHAT IS MUAY THAI?

  • Muay Thai is a combat sport where two opponents engage in stand-up style striking matches with the goal of sufficiently injuring, or knocking out, their challenger.

  • Muay Thai is a style of Kickboxing with a few key differences. Kickboxing involves long-range attack and defense with punching, kicking, and knee strikes, whereas Muay Thai also incorporates elbow strikes and clinch fighting.

    In addition to the 4 types of basic punches used in Boxing (jab, cross, hook, uppercut) more advanced punching techniques are used in Muay Thai, including the spinning back fist and superman punch. Various kicking techniques, such as jump, roadhouse body, and high and low kicks, combined with punching, elbows, and knees in Muay Thai make it a broad and dynamic sport.
